The CLUB strives to connect aviation-minded people and entities, so they can use the Stanford Flying Club network as a conduit or facilitator to obtain (access of) or provide (access to), the availability of Aircraft, Flight Instruction, Aviation / Pilot Training and Ground School materials, and a range of flight school resources. The Club also sponsors some limited Aviation Research for the improvement or design of small aircraft.
The CLUB does not provide Air Transportation or Air Taxi service, and is not a transportation carrier. The CLUB sometimes may be referred to as a pilot center, flying club or educational flight training facility, but is not a traditional “flight school” or flight training center within the meaning of 49 CFR § 1552.1 [of the TSA Regulations]. STANFORD FLYING CLUB does not operate as an FAA certificated entity under 14 CFR Part 61, 121, 135, 141, or 142 [of the FAA Regulations]. The CLUB may merely facilitate plane owners and renters, and, renters and knowledgeable independent FAA Certificated Flight instructors to connect in an efficient way.
Stanford Aviation Association, sometimes also referred to as “STANFORD FLYING CLUB” / “FLYSTANFORD” / “Stanford Pilot Center” or the “CLUB”, is an independent organization. STANFORD FLYING CLUB [SFC] is not STANFORD UNIVERSITY’S or CESSNA AIRCRAFT COMPANY’S agent, or supported or endorsed by the University. The University or CESSNA do not indemnify or accept responsibility for any representations, activities, negligent acts, failure to act properly, and/or omissions, of the CLUB, its directors, officers, agents, employees, contractors, representatives, or MEMBERS.
